The Five Senses

We had a fun Friday in Room 203. We began our day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. After HWT, we read a book on roots and had a visitor tell us about the Beye Fun Fair on Saturday. We looked at a Time for Kids on desert life before going to the auditorium for an assembly. There was a performance on the life of Helen Keller. It was very interesting to see and learn about her life. We had a shortened Spanish with Sra. Colmenero because of the assembly before playing Pac-Man Tag and Flip It in P.E. with Mr. Simatic. When we got back to the room, we had science. We learned about the five senses: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching. Then we conducted a sight experiment by trying to trick our eyes with an optical illusion. We tried to make our eyes think that a fish was in a fishbowl, even though they were on different pages. It worked! You child should have there's at home, so look for it!

After lunch we reviewed sight words, recited "Humpty Dumpty," and had math. We worked more with number bonds. We worked on finding the missing numbers in the bond and then telling stories to go with the number bond. For Star of the week, Jaliyah told a silly joke. We also shared the letters we wrote to her. After our afternoon recess, we ended the day with art. We reviewed shapes and drew a picture showing "the shape of my family" using regular pencil and colored pencils. Then we packed up, passed out certificates for an all green month, and prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!

We hope that you can visit the Beye Fun Fair on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.
