Bees

We had a "buzzy" Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. We also read "Bees" and colored and matched three kinds of bees: the queen, worker bees, and drones. After Road to Reading, we had snack and read a Time for Kids issue on plants. At Spanish, we learned more about the jungle with Sra. Colmenero. Next, we played some fun games with gator balls and big building blocks in P.E. with Mr. Simatic. When we got back to the room, we had science. We investigated different types of fabric. We examined them with magnifying glasses , discussed them, and found out what each one felt like.

After lunch, we reviewed our sight words, recited "Yankee Doodle," and had math. We introduced the concept of subtraction by using objects to find out how many are left. For Star of the Week, Mekhi told a couple of funny jokes before we shared the letters we wrote to him. We had a nice afternoon recess since we didn't get out this morning, too. When we came back in, we read "The Happy Bee" and made bee art. We put together a body, stripes, antennae, and wings. They look cute!  After a little choice time, we packed up Friday Folders, gave out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Have a great weekend!
