Ladybugs

We had a "buggy" Wednesday in Room 203. We began our day with our morning activities. We read a book on insects and tried to put different insects where they belong in a picture. After Road to Reading, we had Writer's Workshop. We continued our "How-To" stories, focusing on number order. After snack and recess, we read "Ladybugs" and had ELA Workshop. My groups talked about the parts of a ladybug before making our own ladybug with movable wings. Independent groups worked on "Y" words and sentences. We also visited our last secret center of this rotation.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Yankee Doodle," and practiced our phonics skills. We also read "Ladybugs: Red Fiery, and Bright" and learned several facts about ladybugs. Then we finished decorating our fingerprint ladybug pictures from yesterday. They look excellent!  For Star of the Week, Mekhi read a book called "Love That Puppy." He did a great job! To end the day, we had Second Step. Mrs. Z led a lesson on solving problems when playing with friends. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
