Pumpkins!

We had a full day in Room 2. We began by collecting homework and with Nutrition. We took care of our morning activities and read "Oh My, Pumpkin Pie" and "Pumpkin Faces." At language arts rotations, students sewed their own pumpkin shape and then cut out shapes to make a face and add a stem. Special thanks to Baeman's mom for helping with the sewing and tying today! My groups wrote letters to Ziggy, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Little Jack Horner" and had math. We worked on finding missing numbers by using a number line.

After lunch, Chloe shared some information she found on the planets and we practiced our "Five Little Pumpkins" song. For art, we reviewed our unit on lines and then used all what we learned to make a picture that included different kinds of lines. We tried to show ourselves playing a game. We used only pencil and crayon, so we could focus on our best work. Next week, we will move on to shapes in art.  For Star of the Week, Ziggy shared the pictures she forgot yesterday. Then we estimated goldfish crackers. There were 56 goldfish. Alexander guessed it exactly!  We had free recess with hula hoops and jump ropes at P.E. To end the day, we had a popcorn party. We watched "Sam and Mat" and had some yummy popcorn. Then we packed up Friday Folders, passed out certificates for an all green week, and lined up for home.

Have a great weekend! Don't forget that the "Art to Remember" orders are due next Tuesday, if you're interested.
