Picture Day

We had a great Thursday in Room 2. We began our day with Nutrition and calendar. It was Picture Day, so before anything else, we lined up shortest to tallest and made our way to the auditorium for individual pictures. We did a nice job smiling (I hope) and waiting (I know). Then we went over by the library to get the class picture taken. We were very patient (again) waiting for our turn. We returned to Room 2 and read "H is for Horse" and started centers. At language arts rotations, students worked on an "H" phonics page and writing "H" words. My groups wrote friendly letters to our Star of the Week, who happens to be me. The other groups had secret centers. We had one late student that missed the class photo, so we arranged for a retake. We had to stop centers, but we got it done. Again, we did a super job. Then we went out for recess. After recess, we recited "Pease Porridge Hot" and finished our language arts rotations.

After lunch, we had Theater. The auditorium was busy with Picture Day, so we met Ms. Nichols in Room 11. The class rehearsed their plays together. I believe we will have a performance for parents on October 23rd. I'll double check with Ms. Nichols next week and include it on the regular Ricker Report. When we got back, we wrote in our journals about Theater. We had a little choose time before Star of the Week. I shared some family photographs. We had P.E. on the big yard next where we used jump ropes and bouncy balls. To end the day, we read "Harold's ABC," shared our last two "All ABout Me" books, and played Mr. Ricker Says." Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over your homework for tomorrow!
