More With J

It was a fast paced Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and morning activites. We read "Jaguar's Jungleberry Jamboree" and came up with more "J" words next. At language arts rotations, students worked on K phonics. My groups read "I Like " and wrote neat "j"s. The other groups had secret centers. After a quick recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. Scott had students work on math concepts like lesser, greater, and equal to. They did this through the "Balloon Pop Math" games at Planet Bravo.com/thirdstreet. Feel free to go there to try them at home!  Afterwards, we recited "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling" and talked about what we know about pumpkins in preparation of journal writing tomorrow.

After lunch, we had math. We reviewed Topic 4 by counting, finding more or less, and adding one or two more to numbers. Then we introduced Topic 5: Numbers to 20, which we will begin tomorrow. For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we know about Stella. Then Stella shared some toys. She had a small horse (her favorite animal), a space shuttle Endeavour toy that rolls, and a bunch of sesahells and starfish that she found at the beach. The class thought they were pretty cool! To end the day, we had Reading Buddies. Our friends from Room 19 stopped by to read and talk. Then we put up our chairs, packed up, and reviewed homework. We even had time for a fast game of "Mr. Ricker Says!" Then we lined up for home.
