Apple Prints

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began our day with Nutrition and morning activities. Then we read the book "Apples, Apples, Apples." At language arts rotations, we used the last of our apples to make apple prints. Students painted the apples pieces different colors (red, yellow, green, and light green) and made a pattern of apples. Most made AB or ABC patters. It was very messy, but fun. And a cool way to wrap up our study of apples. Special thanks to Baeman's mom and Amelia's mom for their help today! My groups wrote letters to the Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Pease Porridge Hot," did some rhyming, and had math. We counted numbers and then made one fewer.

After lunch, we read a "Fancy Nancy" book and learned the rest of our phonetic alphabet, from A to Z. We will include this in our morning activities now. Then we started an art project by coloring eyes, a mouth, hands, feet, and a stem. We will unveil what "guy or girl" we will make on Monday. Several students thought they had it figured out. Did yours? For Star of the Week, I had students estimate super star sticks. They had to guess how many were in a jar. It will always be a number between 1 and 100. There were 84 super star sticks. Katharine estimated it exactly! We had P.E. on the big yard with bouncy balls and jump ropes before ending the day with a popcorn party. It was a nice way to end the week!  Then we packed up Friday Folders, passed out certificates for an all green week, and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!
