The Sh Digraph

We had a warm day back in Room 203. It was nice to not have snow this Monday, let's hope the mild weather stays for awhile!  We spent our morning reading "Shelly's New Shoe's" and learning about the "sh" digraph. We used crayons, glue, and shell pasta to make the tactile page "Shells on 'Sh' on a Ship." We also had Reader's Workshop. We looked at some more poems by Shel Silverstein and read two others with a friend. After Road to Reading, we had snack and recess. We ended our morning by learning our new sight words (ask, around, light, write, kind), reciting our new poem ("Come to The Window"), and writing about plants in our kindergarten journals.

After lunch, we shared about our weekend and had math. We spent a few minutes showing what we know with subtraction with numbers to 5. We also had Workshop. We didn't have time to try a new themed project, but we did have time to read "The Vey Grouchy Ladybug." We also introduced Rafa as our Star of the Week. He shared his awesome poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day with  Spanish and P.E. Then we packed up, reviewed our new homework and project, and lined up for home.

Be sure to look over homework packets for the week! Directions and a booklet for our final at-home project, the Animal Research Report, go home today. Projects are due Tuesday, May 22. See me if you have any questions. We also have a calendar for our ABC Countdown, which starts this Thursday. Let's have a great week!
