Poetry

It was a beautiful day in Room 203. We spent our morning working with the letter "Z." We read "Zack the Lazy Zebra," brainstormed "Z" words, and practiced "Z" phonics and sentences. We also continued our study of poetry in Reader's Workshop. We finished the poems we started yesterday and added an illustration. They're great! We also practiced our sight words, recited "This Little Piggy," and read some poems by Robert Louis Stevenson. After snack and recess, we visited Sra. Colmenero and had Spanish.

After lunch, we had math. We reviewed subtraction and went over three ways to "take away." We used our fingers, unifix cubes, and drawing to solve some subtraction problems. We ended the day with Second Step. We talked about Managing Disappointment with Mrs. Sweeney. We reviewed the steps to calm down (stop, name your feeling, take a belly breath) to help us. Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Be sure to wear your class t-shirt tomorrow!
