The Ch Digraph

We had another snowy Monday in Room 203. Since it's mid-April, I think that we need to break this habit! Anyway, we spent our morning learning about the "ch" digraph. We finished all of the letters from A to Z, so we will focus on digraphs and blends to end the year. Today we read "Chimp and Chick's Lunch" and used crayons, glue, and tortilla chips to make the tactile page "Chips on 'Ch' on a Cheese." They came out nice!  We had Reader's Workshop and a quick Writer's Workshop on "How-Too" stories before starting a new round of Road to Reading. After snack and recess, we reviewed our new sight words (please, tell, that, stop, much), recited our new poem ("Wee Willie Winkie"), read "The Tiny Seed," and worked in our HWT workbooks.

After lunch, we had a quick review of addition in math before finishing up our "The Shape of Me" art pictures from Friday. We used colored pencils to fill them in. We also sponge painted some flower petals for a plant project later in the week. Then we introduced Paul as our Star of the Week. He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day with Spanish and P.E. Then we passed out homework folders and packed up for home!

Be sure to check over homework packets for the week. There is a field trip slip included, so look it over and return it soon. Let's have a great week!
