Field Trip to the Oak Park Library

We had a great Thursday in Room 203. Today was the day of our walking field trip to the Oak Park Library and we couldn't have asked for better weather! After unpacking and reading "Little Tree," we found partners for the day and started our walk to the library. We were joined on the walk by Ben P.'s mom, Ben S.'s mom, Emma's mom, Evan's mom, and Sa'Daree's mom. The clear skies and mild weather were a nice change of pace from our wet, cold, and up & down weather this spring. When we arrived, each kindergarten class rotated through three activities. We started with story time. We sang some songs and read a silly book called "One Big Pair of Underwear." After the story, Ms. Genevieve had students do something very silly. (You'll have to ask your child what that was!) Next, we took a behind the scenes tour of the library, including to see the book sorting machines. Finally, we ended up in the children's section to see their pets, books, play areas, and the other activities that the library has to offer. The staff was awesome and the class had a great time! Then we made our way back to Beye in time to have a quick snack and to check out a Time for Kids on cool inventions.

After lunch, we had math. We practiced more subtraction facts together and independently. We're getting better! We had a quick after noon recess to make up for missing one in the morning AND because it was such a nice day out. For science, we reviewed what a plant needs (water, sun, air, soil) before heading off to Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class work more on their clay projects. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday!  Also, I'd like to thank our amazing chaperones again for today: Ben P.'s mom, Ben S.'s mom, Emma's mom, Evan's mom, Henry's dad, and Sa'Daree's mom. We appreciate you walking with us and keeping us safe! You're the best!
