The Parts of a Seed

We had a good Thursday in Room 203. We spent our morning reading "Seeds" and talking about the parts of a seed: the seed coat, little plant, and food storage. We visited the Computer Lab to play LexiaCore5 games. We also made diagrams and started a new "How-To" story in Writer's Workshop. After snack and recess, we reviewed sight words, recited "Yankee Doodle," read "Not Norman" for read aloud, and practiced lowercase "y" and "j' in our HWT workbooks.

After lunch, we listened to stories and made number bonds to ten in math and had workshop. We also had science. We looked a the parts of a seed by taking one apart to identify the seed coat, little plant, and food storage. I soaked them in water first, then we pulled them apart and examined them with magnifying glasses. We also had Star of the Week. Nora shared an awesome photo book with the class. We ended the day by working with clay in Art with Ms. Sundquist. Then we packed up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday!
