Veterans Day

We had a good Friday in Room 203. We began our day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. After continuing work on our Fire Safety books, we had Road to Reading. Afterwards, we had Writer's Workshop. We took the stories we started with Mrs. Groll and worked on adding more details to our pictures and stories. Everyone was able to conference with me about their writing. After snack, we went to Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. The class read and discussed "The Little Red Hen" in Spanish. In P.E., we played Virus Tag and Reverse Virus Tag with Mr. Simatic. When we got back to the room, we finished up our writing and had some free play.

After lunch, we learned about Veterans Day. We watched a short video on its origins and colored and American flag with markers. We also finished our last page of the Fire Safety book. Yay!  Both should have made their way home today. We started a science unit on trees. We looked at and observed trees and labeled the parts of the tree. We will learn more next week. After an afternoon recess, we went to the library. Mr. Withers let us check in our old books and check out new ones for the weekend since we didn't get to see him this week. Be sure to return them next Tuesday! To end the day, we packed up Friday Folders, cleaned up, passed out awards for twenty Super Star Sticks, played, and sang until it was time to line up. Have a great weekend!

Be sure to continue work on Ethnicity Doll projects, which are due on November 30th.
