More With J and Turkeys

We had a nice Monday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which include sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, counting the days in school, the alphabet song, the vowel song, our phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. After HWT, we learned a little more about the letter J. We don't have Road to Reading this week and with only two days, it makes sense to do letter review instead of starting a new letter. We matched pictures and sounds and tried writing sentences with "J" words. After snack and recess, we read "10 Fat Turkeys" and made some turkey art. Students had to use clues to put the feathers in the correct order. In Art, Ms. Sundquist had the class use markers to fill in primary colors into their Mondrian inspired pictures.

After lunch, we sang "A Turkey Named Burt" and reviewed some phonics skills. At Music, Mrs. Hansen had us sing and try a new circle dance. When we got back to Room 203, we had math. We acted our result unknown problems. Basically, we counted and acted out different ways to make ten. We also counted up and added one more. Next, we went to the Computer Lab and played LexiaCore5 learning games. Try to play some at home over the break! Then we passed out homework, packed up,  and lined up for home.

Be sure to look over "homework" for the week. We only have a Ricker Report and a permission slip for our upcoming field trip. You can turn in the slip tomorrow, or by next Friday. Please return green folders (even if they're empty) tomorrow!  And try to use the holiday break to finish Ethnicity Dolls and writing. They're due by Wednesday, November 30th.
