More With Shadows

We had a championship Thursday in Room 203. Go Cubs Go! Our sleep-deprived class and teacher began the day with our morning activities and HWT. We don't have Road to Reading on Thursdays, so we went to the Computer Lab to work on LexiaCore5 learning games. Keep meeting those time goals at home! When we got back, we had Writer's Workshop. We focused on finishing our writing and using a kindergartner friendly checklist to make sure it was ready to share. After snack and recess, we read "Shadows Everywhere" and had ELA Workshop. Students made shadow booklets where they labeled shadows as they went from big to bigger to the biggest. I pulled  groups to write what they know about shadows in their kindergarten journals.

After lunch, we recited "Pease Porridge Hot" and reviewed phonics skills. AT Music, Mrs. Hanson let the class play three instruments! Next, we went outside and made shadows. First we reviewed what we needed: light, something to block the light, and a place for the shadow to fall. Then we worked with partners to make our own shadows. It was fun. We also got a short recess. At Spanish, SRa. Colmenero taught the class about pets. To end the day, we learned about rough and smooth lines. We started a picture of a favorite outdoor place using rough and smooth lines. The nwe packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow. Way to go Cubbies!
