A Plump and Perky Turkey

We had a rainy Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework and taking care of our morning activities. After HWT, we read the story "A Plump and Perky Turkey." After discussing the setting, characters, and sequence of events, we made our own plump and perky turkeys. They look cute!  At Writer's Workshop, students got a chance to make their own narrative story. It is very exciting that our students are trying to sound out words, make descriptive pictures, and add speech bubble in their writing!  After snack, we had Spanish and P.E. Sra Colmenero was out, so the class watched a video on Central America. The class had a fun time playing games with Mr. Simatic in P.E. When we got back to our room, it started to rain, so we ended up with indoor lunch recess.

After lunch, we recited "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling" and had math. We focused on the number ten. We practiced counting and our number fluency before using counters to build ten and create ten using different configurations. After some indoor (it was still raining) free time reading, drawing, and playing math games, we had art. Continuing on our theme of lines, we made curved and straight lines with oil pastels and used water colors to fill them in. They look super!  Then we cleaned up, packed up Friday Folders, and passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks. Have a great weekend!

Don't forget to keep working on your Ethnicity Doll project, which is due on Wednesday, November 30th.
