More With H

We had a busy Tuesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. We started new groups in Road to Reading, too. For Writer's Workshop, we worked on being brave and sounding out new words. Each student now has an alphabet chart in their folder to help sound out words. We will be adding a word list and a word wall very soon!  After snack and recess, we read "Hide-and-Seek Hippo," brainstormed more "H" words, and had ELA Workshop. Students worked independently on matching "h" pictures and sounds while I pulled groups to read "I Can, We Can" books together. My groups also read a "Time For Kids" mini-magazine and discussed the presidential election and voting.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Pease Porridge Hot" and practiced our phonics skills. Then we went to the library. Mr.Withers read the class a story and let them browse and check out books. At Spanish, the class learned more about El Dia de Muertos with Sra. Colmenero. At P.E., we exercised and played Guardians of the Garden with Mr. Simatic. To end the day, we celebrated ten all-green days with a fruit snack and "Harold's Walk on the Wild Side."We also passed out certificates for staying green for all of October. Keep it up!

I just received our Picture Day pictures. They look great!  I will send them home with your child on Wednesday.
