Shadows

We had a nice Wednesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. Then we had Road to Reading and Writer's Workshop. We continued our writing from yesterday and used a checklist to make sure we were finished. After snack and recess, we read "H is for Horse" and "Shadows." We talked about what makes a shadow (light, something to block the light, and a place for the shadow to fall on) and made some shadows. During ELA Workshop, students worked on finding "H" words and pictures while I pulled groups to read "Guess Whose Shadow?" and make our own shadow booklets.

After lunch, we recited "Pease Porridge Hot" and had math. We worked to make 7 in different configurations.  We also counted with fingers on the rekenrek, and tried to write and identify numbers to 7.  To end the day, we had Second Step. We learned about anger and empathy with Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z. Then we packed up, passed out class pictures, and lined up for home.
