Smooth and Rough Lines

We had a full Friday in Room 203. We began the day by collecting homework folders and with our morning activities and HWT. Road to Reading was canceled, so next we had Writer's Workshop. We learned how writers get ready to write true stories by first practice telling the stories. We tried to think and talk about a true story before writing it ourself. After snack and recess, we had P.E. with Mr. Simatic. We missed Spanish because of a miscommunication about missing teachers. When we got back to Room 203, we voted. The entire Oak Park District 97 is having students vote on their favorite book character between Bad Kitty and Scaredy Squirrel. We read one book with each and then let each student vote. School and district votes will be released next week. Our class tally was close: 8-7 in favor of Scaredy Squirrel! We also took a few minutes to make shadows before lunch.

After lunch, we went to the auditorium to have vision testing. Each student was checked to see how well they see. If there are any concerns, you will be contacted by Nurse Shilpa. After reciting "Pease Porridge Hot," we had math. We worked on building and counting to 8. Our skill practice was a little tricky, but we got though it. We ended the day by finishing the art project we started yesterday. We colored in our smooth and rough line picture of a favorite outdoor place. Then we used watercolor paints to fill in the blank spaces. We packed up Friday Folders, passed out awards for Lexia and twenty super star sticks, and celebrated Charlotte's birthday. Her mom and dad stopped by to sing "Happy Birthday" and give everyone an invisible ink pen. Thank you Charlotte! Have a great weekend!
