The Letter I

We had a fast Monday back in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, including sorting lunches, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, calendar, days in school, our poem of the week, the alphabet song, the vowel song, our phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. For handwriting, we used crayons, glue, and ice cream cones to make the tactile page "Ice Cream Cones on 'I's on an Igloo." After Road to Reading, we read "My 'I' Book" and brainstormed some "I' words. Let's focus more on the "short i" sounds, as in insect, igloo, and pig. After snack and recess, we had Art with Ms. Sundquist. We took our two dimensional lines from last week and used them to make three dimensional sculptures. They look cool!  Hopefully, they made it home today. Finally, since tomorrow is Election Day, we had a quick secret ballot vote for President of the United States. In case you wondered, Hillary Clinton prevailed in our classroom.

After lunch, we recited our new poem "Little Jack Horner" and reviewed our phonics skills. At Music, Mrs. Hanson had the class examine the second half of the opera we will see on Thursday. When we got back, we had math. We worked on counting, writing, and creating different ways to make 8. To end the day, we went to the Computer Lab and worked on LexiaCore5 learning games. Keep playing them at home!  Then we passed out homework, went over our Ethnicity Doll project, packed up, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over those homework packets. Note that there is no school tomorrow, November 8. Our second at-home project: The Ethnicity Doll, goes home today. It is due on Wednesday, November 30th. See me if you have questions or concerns. Lastly, since we don't have school tomorrow, bring in your library books Wednesday. Mr. Withers said that he would let us go in and check out new books on Friday.
