More With K

We had a busy Tuesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities, HWT, and Road to Reading. During Writer's Workshop, we began a new unit on Narrative Writing. We looked at our past writing and put it in two piles: easy to read and hard to read. We discussed what made our writing better and came up with ways to make it easier to share and enjoy. I look forward to seeing the results!  Our Unit One writing will go home in Friday Folders this week. After snack and recess, we read "Kangaroo Kazoo" and brainstormed more "K" words. During ELA Workshop, students worked on identifying "K" words and writing sentences with them. I pulled groups to read a Time for Kids magazine issue on people's homes around the world.

After lunch, we recited "Georgie Porgie" and shared Ethnicity Doll projects from Elise, Charlotte, and Ellie. They did an awesome job! Remember to finish your project and be ready to share tomorrow! Next, we went to the library where Mr. Withers read us a story and let us check out a new book. In Spanish, the class studied pets (birds) along with directional words with Sra. Colmenero. In P.E. it was Get Fast Day with Mr. Simatic. There were passing with a partner games and hockey. To end the day, we had Reading Buddies with Mrs. Fogg's class. We looked at a book with a friend from the fifth grade. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and bring in Ethnicity Doll projects tomorrow! Also, remember that tomorrow is Picture Retake Day.
