A Busy Thursday

We had a busy Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities, HWT, and playing LexiaCore5 games in the Computer Lab. When we returned, we celebrated our narrative writing by reading it with friends and the class. I can really see the difference the last six weeks had made! After snack and recess, we read and discussed more about the first Americans, Native Americans. We learned that Native Americans were farmers and were able to grow many different crops, including corn, beans, and squash. During ELA Workshop, students made a tactile corn art using real corn kernels. My groups read Time for Kids and did some skills assessment.

After lunch, we recited "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling" and practiced rhyming and phonics skills. In Music, Mrs. Hansen had the class play rhythm sticks. In math, we worked on counting to and writing the number 10. We practiced our number fluency skills, used beads to make an array, and then made a bracelet showing 10. We had a substitute in Spanish and  learned more about pets. When we got back to Room 203, we completed our math lesson by writing and drawing 10. We also had some free choice time to end the day. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, counted super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday! Also, bring in any book orders if you're interested.
