The Letter F and Self Portraits in Art

We had a nice Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside. After reading "My 'F' Book," we brainstormed words that star with "F." At language arts rotations, students used crayons, glue, and feathers to make the tactile page "Feathers on 'F's on a Football." My groups read "i Can, We Can" and worked on good "F" handwriting and words. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We checked our progress in the chapter before using counters to make one more with number to ten. Then we counted objects and found the group with one more.

After recess, we had Art with Ms. Maria. She had the class use mirrors to make a black and white self portrait using a sharpie marker. Students also got some free draw. For P.E., we went out to the big yard. We practiced bouncing a ball to other students in groups of four. We did a good job!  We also got some free recess. When we got back, we recited our new poem "Three Little Kittens." It's a long one, so practice it at home! Then we started our "lines to touch" art project by making a pattern of lines using wet glue. They should be dry to use on Thursday. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to check over homework packets! See me if you have any questions. Also, remember that tomorrow is the Third Street Back to School Breakfast. Breakfast is from 7:00-8:00 A.M. by the cafeteria, and my presentation in Room 2 is from 8:00-8:30 A.M. Have your student put their backpack in our line and play on the kindergarten yard while you stop in. Supervision by Mr. A and others will be provided.
