Prisms

We had a quick Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities, as usual. Then we read "Bubble Bear" and came up with some more "B" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on some cut and paste "B" phonics. My groups read "I" and worked on good "B" handwriting and words. The other groups had secret centers. We also were lucky enough to have Asher's mom and Sam's mom volunteer in the class. Thank you!  After recess, we had math. We worked on comparing numbers from 0 to 5 using unifix cubes. Then we counted groups and decided if they were equal to, greater than, or less than the other.

After lunch, we read "Families," recited our poem "Three Men in a Tub," and had science. We continued our study of color by learning about prisms. Students got a chance to explore using prisms and observing what happens when they let natural light pass through them. The class saw first hand how the light bends when passing through the prism and produces a rainbow. It was fun! We had a little free time after discussing what we learned, so the class had a chance to read books, put together puzzles, play math games, or draw for a little bit before we packed up for home. Then we reviewed homework, played some "Mr. Ricker Says," and lined up for home!
