Shape Town

We had a good day today in Room 2. We began Friday by collecting homework packets and having Nutrition. Then class listened to the story of "Shape Town." At language arts rotations, students made their own "Shape Town" using shapes and glue to form a picture. My groups took the chapter one math test and wrote in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on building and counting the numbers 6 and 7.

After lunch, we read "A Chair for My Mother" and talked more about family members. Then we colored and sorted pictures of family members by gender. For P.E., we played "Red Light, Green Light" and had a short recess. When we got back into the air conditioned bliss of Room 2, we packed up Friday Folders and had a partner project. We worked with a friend to color in a shape filled picture.  We ended the day with a birthday celebration! Today was Ethan's birthday and Saturday is Charis' birthday. Together they gave students a cupcake, a cup of fruit, and a juice box. The class enjoyed all of their treats after singing "Happy Birthday." Then we cleaned up, passed out certificates for an all-green week, and lined up for home.  Have a great weekend!

Don't forget that we do NOT have school this Monday, September 14th. Enjoy your three day weekend!
