More with F and Shadows

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 2. We began he day with Nutrition ans our morning activities. Then we read "Clifford's Manners" and "F is for Flamingo" and came up with some more words that start with "F." At language arts rotations, students worked on "F" phonics and words. My groups wrote about things we can do in our kindergarten journals using "I can..." sentences. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on ordinals numbers to tenth. We ordered and labeled each other in small groups before identifying positions on our workbook pages.

After lunch, we recited "Three Little Kittens" and sang "I'm a Little Teapot." Then we discussed our California Treasures theme of "Friends." We talked about what friends are and what they do. We also named and drew some of our friends.  For science, we wrapped up  our topic of shadows. We read "Shadows" and "What Makes a Shadow?" and reviewed the thrre things you need to make a shadow. Our project after was to make a sun, draw objects, and then add their shadow to the picture. It was a bit challenging, but a fun concept. For P.E., we played "Battle Cones" with Coach Angel. At library, Mrs. Singh read us "Five Little Monkeys Wash the Car" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
