Back to School Breakfast

Tuesday was the Back to School Breakfast at Third Street School. Parents and students were invited to eat breakfast by the cafeteria between 7:00-8:00 A.M. Afterwards, our parents came to Room 2 for a short presentation about kindergarten. Thank you for such a great turnout! I hope that found the information helpful and worthwhile. When we were done, we quickly took care of our morning activities. We also read "Fifi Ferret's Flute." At language arts rotations, students worked on "F" phonics and words. My groups read "I Can, We Can" and worked on good "F" handwriting and words. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had Tech Lab. Ms. Castro taught thr class some great sorting games, including "Clifford's Sorting," "More Sorting," "Matching Halves," and "Moon Rocket Patterns." Feel free to access these games at PlanetBravo.com/thirdstreet/. When we got back to Room 2, we recited "Three Little Kittens" and tried some rhyming.

After lunch, we sang "I'm a Little Teapot" and had math. We worked on ordinal numbers to fifth. First we organized students and put them in order. Then we worked on figuring out where lines were going and who was first in line. Finally, we number rows of objects and listened to identify certain positions. It was a little tricky, but we did a nice job. To end the day, we had P.E. We worked on bouncing a ball to friends. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Thank you again for coming to our Back to School Breakfast!
