Family Dolls

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. Then we took care of our morning activities and read "Me and My Family Tree." At language arts rotations, students made family dolls. They labelled each fold out doll with people in their family before decorating and coloring them. My groups read "Quick as a Cricket" and made our own mini-books. Students made their own similies, comparing a personal trait to an animal. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had a short math time where we checked our progress so far in chapter 2. Then we visited Room 21 for a special bi-weekly music lesson with Ms. Yuki's class. The class did a very nice job with Ms. Ross and Ms. Lupe and interacting with the Pre-School for All Learners (PAL) students.

After lunch, we recited "Hey Diddle Diddle," sang "I'm a Little Teapot," and read "Clifford's Family." We also talked more about our families and what they do to help each other. Each student then wrote something that families do and illustrated the page. We had a little extra time, so we had a partner project next. Students got to color and read with a classmate. It was very pleasant time. For P.E., we went out for some recess on the kindergarten yard. To end the day, we had a popcorn party! We did a really nice job this week (no color changes!), so we got to eat a cup of popcorn while we watched "Harold in the Dark." Then we packed up our Friday Folders, passed out certificates for an all-green week, and lined up for home.  Have a great weekend!

Looking ahead, please note that we do not have school on Wednesday, September 23rd.
