Writing

We had a full day of activities this Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we had Boyd share his book "Red, Stop! Green, Go!" which was based on "Go, Dog, Go!" At language arts rotations, students wrote a friendly letter to Boyd, our Star of the Week. My groups wrote in our kindergarten journals about some of the things we've learned this year. It sounds like a lot of writing, but we are at the point of the year where it's getting easy to write letter and stories!. We also had four groups walk through our room to tour the school. It was a bit of a distraction, but we rolled with it.  The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited "Wee Willie Winkie," and  had math. We discussed capacity and figured out which containers hold more or less.

After lunch, Alexander shared his Science Fair project on "Water to Ice." He did a great job!  Don't forget to bring in your optional projects by next Thursday, if you're interested. Next, we started a cool plant project by sponge painting some large petal, stem, and leaf shapes. We'll try and finish them next week for Open House. For Star of the Week, Boyd shared another favorite book. This time he read us "Green Eggs and Ham." Then we had P.E. on the kindergarten yard with jump ropes and bouncy ball. After packing up, we ended the day with a popsicle from Baeman's mom! His last day is tomorrow and he wanted to have a treat with friends before he moves away. We will miss you Baeman!

Don't forget to finish and check over your homework packets for tomorrow!  Also, try to wear or bring your light blue field trip t-shirt for the Walk-A-Thon tomorrow. Thanks!
