Walk-A-Thon!

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. Then we had our morning activities and read the story "Spring is Here!" At language arts rotations, students worked on "ch" phonics and sentences. My groups read Sam and Mat book #6 and  completed a short weather word page. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited "Wee Willie Winkie," and had math. We made a weather graph. We also shared Caleb's Science Fair project and gave out prizes for twenty super star sticks.

After lunch, we had music. Ms. Phiri led the class through several songs and some dancing. When we got back to Room 2, we packed up our things for home and had Star of the Week. Boyd had us estimate colorful beads. There were 310 beads. Amelia made the closest guess of 300!  We ended the day with the Walk-A-Thon. The class walked laps with cups of water in a relay race with Room 1. We won!  Then we were part of a freeze dance competition on the grass. Abby came in first place!  Finally, we took part in the cup stacking competition. Dashiell took class honors!  After a drink and bathroom break, we stayed out on the yard for the whole school assembly. Ashley's mom was kind enough to give everyone some cool popsicles to enjoy in the heat while they made announcements. The assembly ended with a big dance party on the yard. Then we headed back to the room to pass out certificates for an all-green week and to say goodbye to Baeman. We wish him the best of luck at his new school.  We'll miss you Baeman!
