KDLP Assembly

We had a fun start to our Wednesday in Room 2. After Nutrition and a quick calendar, we were invited to attend the Korean Dual Language Program's (KDLP) annual performance. We got to see all the classes from kindergarten to fifth grade perform Korean songs, dances, and drumming. It was great!  When we got back to the room, we read two books: "A Sunny Day" and "A Cloudy Day" as part of our weather theme. At language arts rotation, students colored and wrote in "My Weather Book" before cutting and stapling the pages together. My groups took the Topic 11 math test and read Sam and Mat book 5. The other groups had the last secret center of this rotation.  After recess, we practiced sight words, recited "This Little Piggy," and finished our language arts rotations.

After lunch, we edited two sentences together, read two books, and had math. We worked on comparing length. We picked objects to measure and compare. Then we figured out which was longer and which was shorter. Students also had the opportunity to explore the room and measure objects with cubes or a ruler. For Star of the Week, Caleb shared his favorite book. He read "Bears on Wheels" to the class. He did a great job! For P.E., Coach Angel taught us a new game called "Noodle Grab." Students tried to grab balls with foam noodles and carry them to a bucket. After everyone learned how to play, we tried a few races. To end the day, we went to the library where Mrs. Singh read us two books. Then we packed up, reviewed the math homework, and lined up for home!
