Parts of a Tooth

We had a great Wednesday in Room 2. We started the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Hooray for Teeth!" and talked more about what we know about teeth. At language arts rotations, students made their own picture showing the parts of a tooth. They included the three layers: enamel, dentin, and pulp, as well as the outer crown and root. My groups looked our skeleton and wrote about the bones in them. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited "Yankee Doodle," and had math. We looked at parts of 14, 15, and 16. We used counters to break those numbers apart with a ten and wrote number sentences to match.

After lunch, we edited two sentences together. Then we talked more about healthy teeth. We looked at some of the tools a dentist uses to keep our teeth clean. Students matched words to pictures and wrote sentences about at least two of the tools.  For Star of the Week, Chloe shared her favorite book. We read a chapter from "Frozen: Anna's Icy Adventure" together. For P.E., Coach Angel had us play Flag Battles. To end the day, Mrs. Singh read us "The Robbery at the Diamond Diner" in the library. Then we packed up and lined up for home!
