Brushing Teeth and Color Collages

We had a full Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities, of course. Then we read the book "Doctor DeSoto" about a mouse that's a dentist. At language arts rotations, students wrote letters to Chloe, our Star of the Week. My groups read "Can it Fit?," discussed how to best brush our teeth, and completed a brushing teeth page where we matched complete sentences to pictures. Students also made a tooth brushing chart to remind them to brush every morning and night. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we practiced sight words, recited "Yankee Doodle," and had math. We made parts of 17, 18, and 19 using unifix cubes.

After lunch, we edited two sentences and had art. We continued our unit on color by creating color collages. Students picked their favorite color and then drew, decorated, and glued objects that are that color. For Star of the Week, Chloe shared some nice family photographs. After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we ended the day playing some Sight Word Bingo. I think the class had fun!  Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and return homework packets tomorrow!
