More With Z, Music, and a Popcorn Party

We had another fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition outside. After our morning activities, we read a book on weather and "Z is for Zebra." At language arts rotations, students worked on "Z" phonics and sentences. My groups tried to write a weather poem. It was a little harder for today's groups, but we persisted and got them done. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "This Little Piggy" and had math. We worked on comparing lengths and putting them in order from shortest to longest. It went very fast!

After lunch, we had music. Ms. Phiri had the class sing several songs, including "This Old Man" and "Bingo." When we got back to Room 2, we had Star of the Week. Caleb had the class estimate army men. There were 53 army men. Chloe came the closest by guessing 55!  Next, we had our popcorn party. We watched "The Magic School Bus: Goes On Air," which was about air pressure, and ate a cup of popcorn. When we were done, Lila shared her Science Fair project on turtles. Don't forget that if you want to earn ten super star sticks and try a Science Fair project, they are due by March 26th. Before we had P.E., we planted some lima bean seeds. We will be studying plants in our next unit, so I'd thought we'd try to time the plants to be ready for that in a couple of weeks. To end the day, several students went to the Walk-A-Thon dance party while the rest of us played on the kindergarten yard. Then we packed up Friday Folders, gave prizes for twenty super star sticks, and passed out certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!
