S Blends and Solid Shapes

It was a warm Monday back in Room 2! We began our day collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning business. We read "Sleepyhead Sloth" and came up with some "sl," "sc" and "sw" words. At language arts rotations, students found missing "s blends" and wrote sentences. My groups took the math topic 15 test and read "Sam and Mat" book 12. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited our new poem "Jack Sprat" and had math. We worked on building solid shapes. We used craft sticks and clay to try and make a cube, pyramid, or triangular prism. It was tough, but they look cool!

After lunch, we learned our first song for the kindergarten culmination on May 30th. I think they like performing it already! Then we read the book "On the Farm" and did a cut and paste page on animals that live on the farm.  For Star of the Week, Yetunde shared her beautiful poster and took questions from the class. At P.E., we played on the kindergarten yard with hula hoops and bouncy balls. It was really hot this afternoon, so we made sure to stay in the shade and take a lot of water breaks. When we went in, we finished work on our solid shapes from math and packed up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to check over the homework packet for the week. Wear class shirts on Wednesday, and be sure to work on your Animal Report & Diorama projects for next Tuesday!
