Touch

It was a good day today in Room 2. We began with our morning business and by reading Sua's copy of "The Cat in the Hat." At language arts rotations, students wrote letters to Sua, our Star of the Week. My groups took the Topic 14 math test and worked on a Mother's Day project. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Hot Cross Buns" and had math. We learned to use the terms in front of, behind, next to, and beside when describing shapes in relation to other objects.

After lunch, we practiced our Mother's Day poem in small groups. Then we read "Touch" and finished the last page in our Sense Books. Sua shared some nice family photos next during Star of the Week. Since it was so hot out and our regular P.E. area is under construction, we stayed in and watched "The Magic School Bus: Ants in the Pants" instead. Then we had science again. This time we practiced describing objects we touched. We also explored the room with a partner to find objects that feel a certain way (soft, hard, smooth, rough, hot, and cold). It was fun! Then we packed up our things and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
