Bees

We had a pretty good day this Friday in Room 2. We started with our morning business before reading "Bees." Then at language arts rotations, we had two bee projects. One was to read sentences about bees and fill in the missing word. The second was to cut and paste a bee with stripes, wings, and antennae. They look cute!  My table did a very cool sewing project for Mother's Day. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Hot Cross Buns" and had math. We reviewed inside, outside, in front, behind, next to, beside, above, below, left, and right by following specific directions when looking at a picture.

After lunch, we read "Buz" and worked on our Mother's Day poem in groups. After that, we had art. We discussed how colors make you feel. We decided that bright colors tend to make you happy, while dull colors can make you sad or scared. Then students got to make a picture using colors to make them happy, or colors to make them sad and scared. Most chose to go the happy route, but a couple tried making a sad or scary picture. For Star of the Week, Sua brought in Hello Kitty candies to estimate. There were 50. We ended the day at P.E. Since the big yard is still under construction, we played on the kindergarten yard. We mostly stayed in the shade and took a lot of water breaks. When we came in, we packed up our Friday Folders, gave our prizes for super star sticks, and passed out certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!

Don't forget to work on those Animal Report and Diorama projects. Be sure to find a shoebox and decide on your animal as soon as you can!
