Killer Whales

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 2. We started discussing ocean animals yesterday, so we read "Sea Horses" and "Wacky Fish" after our morning business. At language arts rotations, we wrote a letter to Mr. Riko, our Technology teacher. My groups took the Topic 16 math test and read "Sam and Mat" book 13. The other groups had choose time. After snack and recess, we had math. We examined the four most-used coins: quarter, dime, nickel, and penny. Then we sorted some plastic coins, and worked to find quarters in a maze.

After lunch, we read "Killer Whales" and made orca art. Then we discussed water and had an experiment to see how raisins act in flat and carbonated water. Students got to see the raisins rise and drop and the soda water, as if they were dancing. We also discussed why that happened. Next, we had our last P.E. with Coach Angel for the year. We played "Flag Wars" on the yard. When we came back to class, we practiced our three songs for culmination. Then we got our things and lined up for home.
