L Blends

We had another full day today in Room 2. We began our Monday with morning business and by reading "Cleo and Clark's Clouds." We came up with several words that have the blends "bl," "gl," and "pl." At language arts rotations, students filled in the missing "L Blend," wrote the whole word, and then sentences on the back. We had to stop midway through our rotations to go get our hearing checked by the district audiometrist.  When we got back, we continued. My groups worked on a cool Mother's Day project. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited our new poem "It's Raining" and had math. We looked at objects with the same shape and same size. Students tried to draw shapes the same size and shape as ones on a worksheet.

After lunch, we practiced our Mother's Day poem. Then we read "The Happy Bee" and completed a page on the three kinds of bees: queen, worker, and drone. For Star of the Week, Warner shared his light up (!)  poster and took questions from the class. We had P.E. on the kindergarten yard and used balls and hula hoops. To end the day, we finished up our work on the five senses. We read the book "Me and My Senses." Then we had students try and guess mystery objects by feel. Finally, we did a cut and paste on hot and cold. Then we packed up, put up our chairs, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Ber sure to look over this week's homework packet. There is information about our Mother's Day celebration on Friday as well as our final book orders of the year.
