The Letter H

I'm back!  We started today getting reacquainted after I missed a couple of days last week. Then we introduced our new letter of the week, "H," and read "My H Book," before brainstorming "h" words. During language arts rotations, we made a tactile page, "Hearts on Hs on a Heart," practiced "h" handwriting, and had secret centers. After snack and recess, we discussed one fewer in math. Students counted numbers, then figured out what number was 1 fewer.

After lunch, we practiced our new poem of the week, "Pease Porridge Hot." Then we learned the entire  phonetic alphabet for all 26 letters. We will add it to our morning routine now. Then we read the book "I Like Pumpkins" and did a pumpkin page where we had to match pumpkins whose faces were the same. We went out to the big yard for P.E. and worked with jump ropes and hula hoops. When we returned, Katie shared her "All About Me" book (which was great) and then started learning a pumpkin song for later in the month. We had a few minutes of choose time before passing out homework and packing up for home. Don't forget that "All About Me" books are due Wednesday and that Picture Day is this Thursday! Order forms are attached to the homework packet.
