Picture Day!

Today was Picture Day!  We started our day by doing our regular calendar and morning business, which included finding ten Zero Heroes for our fortieth day of kindergarten. Then we read the book "Pumpkins" before lining up to get our pictures taken. We lined up, went to the auditorium, and then did our best to smile. After individual photos, we had a class picture taken by the library. When we got back to the room, we only had time for one language arts rotation. Students did a quick "H" phonics page and wrote words on the back. I finished writing about pumpkins in our journals with two groups, and two other groups went to secret centers. After snack (which included a Zero Hero treat) and recess, we shared some "All About Me" books and did our second rotation.

After lunch, we reviewed the poem "Pease Porridge Hot" and did some rhyming and oral blending. Ms. Nichols came to our room for theater today because the auditorium was being used for Picture Day. We spent our time practicing our nursery rhyme performances. Next week, Ms. Nichols is inviting parents to watch the class perform. I believe it will be Thursday, October 7th at 8:15 in the auditorium.  We went to the big yard and used jump ropes and hula hoops for P.E. When we got back we shared more of our "All About Me" projects. We ended the day by celebrating Ryker's birthday. His dad and grandmother brought some cupcakes. It was a pretty good day! I will send home the class pictures as soon as I receive them. And again, great job on those "All About Me" books. Don't forget to finish up homework packets for tomorrow!
