Five Little Pumpkins

We had a fun Friday in room 2! We began the day by collecting homework and doing the calendar and morning business. We read the book "Sixteen Runaway Pumpkins" and reviewed our song "Five Little Pumpkins" in preparation of our center project. Students made decorated, cut, and taped five little pumpkin puppets and put them in an envelope (which went home today). two groups wrote about their families, and two others had secret centers. I was particularly happy about our journal writing today because we copied sentence starters, but then sounded out the last word in the sentence! After snack and recess, we finished up our math page on 2 More from yesterday.

After lunch we were surprised with the news that Ms. Maria wasn't here this week. So we decided to work on drawing our geometric shapes, including my favorite, the parallelogram!  They were trimming trees on the big yard, so we had P.E. on the kindergarten yard with jump ropes and hula hoops. When we came in, we read "Pumpkin Faces," practiced "Five Little Pumpkins" again, and cleaned up the room. We then got to have a popcorn party!  We watched the second part of the SRA "Read Now" series with Sam and Mat. When we finished we packed up, had time for a game of "Mr. Ricker Says..." and passed out green certificates for good behavior. Have a great weekend!
