Types of Weather

We had a fun Friday in Room 203. We started our day with HWT, updating our calendar, and a morning meeting. In Reader's Workshop, we started a new unit on tackling bigger and better books. We also came up with a way to organize the books we are reading during Workshop. Next, we read another book on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During small group rotations, students independently made an award with Dr. King on it. My groups worked on LexiaCore5 games. Workshop groups went "book shopping" and found ten new books to read next week. In between all of that we had a lock-down drill as well. We did a nice job listening and following directions. After indoor snack and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We learned how to use the word wall (as well as snap words) to help our writing. Then we finished our stories from yesterday.

After lunch, we had science. We learned about different types of weather. We labeled and then colored and attached pictures of sunny, cloudy, rainy, and snowy weather. They look neat!  After reviewing sight words, reciting "Little Nut Tree," and practicing our songs for the Pot Luck celebration, we had a little fruit snack party for having a great week. To end the day, we went to P.E. and Music. Then we packed up, gave out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home.

Have a great three-day weekend!
