The Letter O

We had a busy Tuesday back in Room 203. We spent our morning working on HWT, updating our calendar, and having Reading Buddies and Reader's Workshop. We read "My 'O' Book," brainstormed some "short o" words, and had small group rotations. Independent groups used crayons, glue, and Cheerios to make the tactile page "Cheerios on 'O's on an Octopus." My groups worked on Lexia and sight words. Workshop groups got to explore around the room. We also reviewed phonics and read "Dragonflies." After snack and recess, we wrote in our kindergarten journals. We wrote a sentence about our favorite type of weather and what we like to do in that weather.

After lunch, we recited our new sight words and poem. Then we visited the Library. Mr. Withers was absent, so Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Frost read to us and let us check out books. When we returned to Room 203, we had math. We used scales to measure weight. We also tried to make objects equal to a set of blocks. After practicing our songs, we had Star of the Week. We introduced Bennett as our Star of the Week. He shared his poster and a couple of toys. Then he took questions and comments from the class. We ended the day with Music and Spanish. Then we packed up green folders and lined up for home!

Be sure to look over homework packets. We have the Pot Luck Breakfast Thursday and book orders due Friday (if you're interested).
