Trees Through the Seasons

We had a busy Friday in Room 203. We started our day reviewing what we know about Ben P., our Star of the Week. Ben told us a silly joke before we wrote friendly letters to him. Next, we learned about "Sound Power" in Reader's Workshop. We used letter sounds to help identify words with a partner. After Road to Reading, we had snack and recess. In Writer's Workshop, we finished our true stories and shared with other readers.

After lunch,. we reviewed our sight words, recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb," and read "Fall Changes," and "Leaves." We talked about trees and how they change during each season. Then we made a project where we labeled the four seasons, cut out a tree shape for each season, and then painted how the leaves look for each season. We made small green leaves for spring, big green leaves for summer, colorful changed leaves (either yellow, orange, or red) leaves for fall, and small buds for the winter. They look cool!  We only had a few minutes to clean up before it was time for P.E. and Music. When we got back, we packed up Friday Folders and read our letters to Ben P. Then we lined up for home. Have a great weekend!

Be sure to finish up those Culture Doll projects for Wednesday!
