Kwanzaa

We had a nice Wednesday in Room 203. We started our day by unpacking, taking attendance, and then going to an assembly. The Jazz Band, Gospel Choir, and Intermediate Band did a rehearsal for their performance tonight. We got a front row seat to see the sing and play instruments. It was great!  When we got back to the room, we practiced "O" handwriting in our HWT books and started our day. We read "Seven Candles for Kwanzaa" and learned some of the principals of the holiday. We got into small groups. Independent groups worked on a Kwanzaa picture patterns, my groups made candy cane ornaments, and the Workshop group played LexiaCore5 Games on the iPads. When we finished, we had snack and recess. We ended our morning with Spanish with Sra. Colmenero.

After lunch, we recited "I'm a Little Snowman," read "The Ninjabread Man," and had Reader's Workshop. We read by ourselves and with a partner using our super reading powers. Next we decorated a bag to look like a snowman to hold the top secret gifts we've been making. We're hoping to send them home tomorrow. We ended the day with Second Step. We reviewed what we have learned so far, and watched videos on belly breathing and positive hallway behaviors. Then we packed up and lined up for home.
