The Letter M

We had a nice Monday in Room 203. We spent our morning sharing about our weekend and learning about the letter M. We read "My 'M' Book," brainstormed some "M" words, and used crayons, glue, and marshmallows to make the tactile page "Marshmallows on 'M's on a Mitten." We learned how to use our reading superpowers in Reader's Workshop, too. After Road to Reading, we had snack and recess. When we returned, we wrote sentences about things we like in our kindergarten journals.

After lunch, we learned our new sight words (sit, to, will, at, on), recited our new poem ("Little Miss Muffet"), and sang a holiday song. In math, we started a new module on measurement. We talked about the words longer and shorter, plus taller and shorter to describe objects. We measure things with a piece of paper to see if they were longer or shorter (or taller or shorter). Finally, we shared some Culture Dolls. Sa'Daree, Khyan, Owen, and Ben P. all did a nice job sharing their Culture Dolls today. Don't forget they are due on Wednesday! We ended the day in Spanish and P.E. We learned about shapes with Sra. Colmenero in Spanish and played scooter games with Mr. Simatic in P.E. Then we packed up homework folders, passed out prizes for an all-green November, and passed out even more prizes for twenty super star sticks.

Be sure to check over homework for the week. Our library day has been changed to Tuesday, so please bring in library books on Tuesday. Also, finish up those Culture Dolls for Wednesday. Lastly, report cards go home Friday, so be sure to look for them. Let's have a great week!
