Moving Lines

We had a double birthday Tuesday in Room 203. We started our day practicing the letter "W" in our HWT workbook. We were visited by Ben P's dad and Emma's mom to celebrate both of their birthdays, which were today. We sang "Happy Birthday" and Ben P's dad read "The Mitten." They also brought prizes for everyone to get at the end of the day. Next we were visited by our Reading Buddies. We looked at books and talked with our fifth grade friends. For Reader's Workshop, we read "Yoko," reviewed letters, sounds, sight words, and our reading skills. After Road to Reading, we had snack and recess. It was cold, so be sure to bundle up each day! When we returned, we started new true stories in Writer's Workshop. Most of us drew pictures to start. We will finish these stories on Thursday or Friday.

After lunch, we visited the library. Several students forgot their books, so be sure to bring them every Tuesday from now on! When we returned, we had art. We finished up our unit on lines by drawing a picture that had moving lines. We put ourselves in the picture moving while playing. Then we used watercolor paints to add color. They look nice! We also started a holiday project, but it wasn't quite ready to finish, so we will try again tomorrow. For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we know about Ben S. Then he shared some cool toys with the class. They included: a C3PO, another Star Wars droid, a Rex/T-Rex transformer-like toy, and a police motorcycle that had a siren. The class liked them all! We ended the day in Music and Spanish. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, had Ben P. and Emma pass out their birthday prizes, and lined up for home.
