Gingerbread Girl and Gingerbread Boy

We had a fun Tuesday in Room 203. We started our morning practicing "C" handwriting in our HWT books. Next we were visited by our fifth grade Reading Buddies. We drew winter or holiday pictures with our buddy. After they left, we  read "The Gingerbread Girl" together. Then we got into small groups for activity rotations. My group decorated cinnamon ornaments, Independent groups made a movable gingerbread boy or gingerbread girl, and Workshop groups played LexiaCore5 games. After snack and recess, we had Reader's Workshop. We learned that super readers talk about books, too. So we learned how to introduce a book and how to activate our book talk powers with a partner.

After lunch, we went to the library. Mr. Withers read a story and let everyone check out another book. He will allow students to check out two books starting in January!  When we got back to the room, we recited "I'm a Little Snowman," read "Bear's Christmas Star," and worked on some secret projects using our dot painting skills. We shared three more family holiday traditions before going to Music and Spanish. Then we packed up and lined up for home.
