St. Patrick's Day!

We had a memorable St. Patrick's Day in Room 203. When we got to the room, there were green footprints leading into our room. Apparently a leprechaun ran around and messed up our traps. At least he did leave a note and some treats! After we settled down, we continued our Friday by collecting Leprechaun Trap projects and green homework folders. After our morning activities, we read "It's St. Patrick's Day!" and finished our "Leprechaun, Leprechaun, What Do You See?" mini-books.  We shared Gabriel's, George's, and Jaliyah's Leprechaun Trap projects next. After coloring a leprechaun picture for a bit, we shared Billie and Ascencion's projects. We did a great job! After snack, we read "Clever Tom and the Leprechaun" and went to Spanish. There, we worked on "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" books with Sra. Colmenero. In P.E., we played Pac-Man tag with Mr. Simatic. When we got back to the room, we had science. We investigated paper by looking at different types of paper (copy paper, construction paper, tagboard, wax paper, cardboard) with a magnifying glass, as well as by seeing how it reacted with water. Each paper felt and acted a bit different.

After lunch, we reviewed our sight words, read "The Polar Bear Cub," and wrote what we know about polar bears using the illustrations. For Star of the Week, Gavin told a funny joke before we shared our letters to him. We had our regular Friday afternoon recess before having art. We looked at "The Shape of Me," by drawing a self portrait of our whole body with pencil, oil pastel, and then watercolors. After packing up, we ended the day by singing "Happy Birthday" to Ascencion. She even gave us a goody bag as we went home. Cool!

Have a great weekend!
